When we are mired in shame it can be difficult to even believe that change is possible. Researcher Brené Brown says that shame needs 3 things to survive: silence, secrecy and judgement. And the antidote to shame is empathy. Knowing that you’re not alone, and sharing your struggle with others that get it provides a sense of belonging that allows us to begin healing from years of feeling like we are not enough. And when we know that we are enough and can be engaged in healthy striving with others who are in the journey with us, we can cultivate a more resilient spirit. Resilience is the key to thriving with ADHD. We’re all going to fall from time to time. Thriving is all about how we get back up. And with a supportive ADHD community, you don’t have to try to get back up alone.
