Communication with Your Child – 2018

with Debbie Reber

We may know intellectually that all behavior is communication, but converting that awareness into practice so we can read our child’s cues and effectively communicate to them is a whole other story. Yet committing to becoming “fluent” in our child’s unique language— understanding how they express their emotions, needs, and wants, as well as how they receive our messages—allows us to deepen our relationship with our child. Ultimately, we want to develop our own child-to-parent “dictionary” so we can unlock genuine opportunities for learning, connection, and growth, help the family run more smoothly, and ensure no one’s signals get lost in translation.
