Estrogen, Mood, Sleep and ADHD – 2018

with Sandra Kooij, M.D., Ph.D., PsyQ

“DANGER Week” – that’s what Dr. Sandra Kooij calls the week before ADHD women start their monthly period — and with good reason. We are often more irritable, depressed, even suicidal and homicidal in those days of waning estrogen. During this powerful session, we bring you startling new (and evolving) information about the role of estrogen in women’s ADHD symptoms month-to-month and over the lifespan.

About Sandra Kooij, M.D., Ph.D., PsyQ

Dr. Kooij is a top researcher from the Netherlands who is launching original research into mood cycles for ADHD women relative to their menstrual cycles. Her preliminary findings show a higher prevalence of hormonally-associate depression (PMDD) among ADHD women than in the general population. How to treat these frustrating swings, what to do during menopause and exciting new research into women with ADHD is on tap.

As an extra bonus, we will discuss cutting edge research on sleep and ADHD with some remarkable and unsettling news that chronic sleep loss can lead to health problems such as cancer! Dr. Kooij reminds us that our continued late bedtimes and lack of sleep is a persistent and perhaps base issue for the ADHD brain and its off balance circadian rhythm.

Required viewing for every ADHD woman in the world – don’t miss it.!
