Dental hygiene and those trips to the dentist are rarely fun for anyone but especially for people with ADHD. Studies and clinical data demonstrate that people with ADHD have poorer dental health, and require more care due to difficulty maintaining dental hygiene. There is a lot of shame that clients share around their inconsistent habits around their teeth. We will discuss why dental hygiene is more challenging and how a trip to the dentist can be a nightmare for those with ADHD, as well as share ADHD-friendly tips as to how to make it easier.

Dr. Roberto Olivardia is a Clinical Psychologist and Lecturer at Harvard Medical School. He maintains a private practice in Lexington, MA where he specializes in the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder,Eating Disorders and issues that face students with learning disabilities. He is on the Professional and Scientific Advisory Boards for ADDA, CHADD and ADDitude. Dr. Olivardia has lived experience as someone with ADHD and learning differences, as well as being the parent of two teenagers with ADHD and Dyslexia.
