Fostering Independence in ADHD Kids
John Willson M.S., LRT/CTRS
Imagine a world where both you and your child make choices about how to engage rather than react. Finding ways to encourage Response-Ability in children with ADHD can be uniquely challenging. Willson reviews thoughtful strategies that will help you put a plan together to nurture a child’s ability to make appropriate goals, and take responsibility for their actions and behavior. He outlines strategies to help children to produce better results in decision-making, follow through, and taking responsibility by learning to practice Response-Ability.
John Willson has a Masters in Outdoor Therapeutic Recreation Administration. He is the Executive Director of SOAR, a non profit school and adventure camp serving youth diagnosed with learning disabilities and ADHD. He is the past President of the Learning Disabilities Association (LDA) of North Carolina and served on the national board for CHADD. He has led hundreds of adventure courses with youth diagnosed with LD & ADHD. He actively presents to parents and professionals at local, state and national conferences.
